"Tallahassee and Leon County is the place to be for a high quality education," King says.
Each school King has led has recieved an overall grade of A by the Florida A+ School Grading System. One would think this would be enough satisfaction for an individual, but not for King. He chooses not to rest on his laurels. No matter which school he leads, King continues to explore ways to improve education.
"There's always room for improvement with 'A' schools. Leon County has been an 'A' School County four years in a row...That's good, but we can get even better," says King.
From selecting furniture to selecting a top-notch faculty, King realizes building a school from scratch will not be easy. However, he views this challenge as a tremendous learning opportunity.
According to King, Elementary School L will truly be a next generation school because each classroom will be an "Intelligent Classroom." These "Intelligent Classrooms" will feature an LCD projector, a document projector, as well as 4 to 6 network computers. With technology like this and King's uncanny leadership, Elementary School L will be poised to give students the education needed to exel in the classroom so they can be tomorrow's leaders.
King realizes each child has his/her own different learning paths, so focusing on children as individuals instead of large groups is vital. "We will focus on an individualized program for each child. No child will be left behind," states King.
This means if a child is excelling in his/her subject, he/she will be challenged even more in order to help this particular child reach his/her upmost potential. Or, if a child is reading below his/her own grade level, that child will be given the attention he/she needs to reach his/her proper grade level reading criteria. No matter what a child's learning level is, Elementary School L's individualized programs will provide each child with the tools to reach his/her fullest potential.
With top tier technology combined with Ray King's vision and leadership, Elementary School L will influence not just the SouthWood Community, but the Leon County Education System as well. Long live the King!
