Austin D. Carroll Wildlife Biologist The St. Joe Company |

Austin D. Carroll joined the JOE team in March 2006. He began his career as an ecologist assisting in wildlife and fisheries management and restoration programs for International Paper in Louisiana, Arkansas and Texas. From 2001 to 2004, he directed research at Mississippi State University examining the effects of prescribed fire and herbicides on small mammals, reptiles, amphibians and their habitats.
Immediately prior to joining JOE, Carroll served as a forest wildlife ecologist for International Paper, where he oversaw wildlife and fisheries management programs, Sustainable Forestry Initiative compliance and wildlife GIS coordination in Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee. He also worked on numerous joint management ventures with external agencies and served as an instructor at the USFWS National Training Center. Carroll currently serves as naturalist and ecologist for St. James Island, including SummerCamp. He is also assisting in the development of the research program for JOE’s repatriation of the gopher tortoise population within Apalachicola National Forest.
Carroll received both his Bachelor’s degree in Forestry and Master’s degree in Wildlife and Fisheries Science from Mississippi State University. |
