Through these partnerships, JOE has created agreements to protect imperiled species, developed a West Bay Sector Plan that, once implemented, will preserve 37,000 acres and developed a team permitting initiative designed to protect Florida ecosystems.
The St. Joe Community Foundation, a charitable organization endowed through the proceeds of sales in JOE residential projects, funds environmental programs in a five-county region that includes Franklin, Gulf, Bay, Walton and Leon counties. Through the foundation, nearly $200,000 in environmental giving has provided support for such organizations and programs as the Apalachicola Bay Riverkeepers, the Choctawhatchee Bay Alliance, the Audubon Society of Florida, the Friends of St. Andrews State Park, St. Andrews Bay Resource Management Association, South Walton Turtle Watch Inc., the Big Bend Wildlife Sanctuary and others.
