WindMark Beach Kicks Off Phase II With "Derby Days" Events
Port St. Joe, Florida (May 6, 2008) — The St. Joe Company's WindMark Beach celebrated 'Derby Days' — a two-day event
to mark the launch of Phase II of the residential and resort coastal community. The event, held by The Junior Service League
of Port St. Joe, included a private evening reception on Friday, May 2, and a full day of public activities for the community
on Saturday, May 3.
JOE provided over $20,000 in funds the events and donated $5,000 to Children of Gulf County, a Junior Service League
charity which received all proceeds from the weekend's ticket sales.
"We're honored to have partnered with the Junior Service League to put on a weekend of activities that honored the
builders of the WindMark Beach community and local residents," said Joe Renfro, VP/General Manager, Gulf County for JOE.
"We're especially proud to have contributed to the Children of Gulf County Charity, which provides underprivileged children
with clothes, school supplies and other needs. It was a great way to kick off the next phase of development at WindMark Beach."
The private reception on Friday evening, 'Derby Days Triple Crown,' was held to honor WindMark Beach partners, including the
Southern Progress Corporation, architects and planners. Prominent architects present at the reception included:
- • Margaret McCurry of Tigerman McCurry (Chicago, IL)
- • John Kirk of Cooper Robertson & Partners (New York, NY)
- • Peter Dominick of 42/40 (Denver, CO)
- • Ross Anderson of Anderson Architects (Whitefish, MT)
On Saturday, May 3, community residents turned out for a fun-filled full day of family activities, followed by a celebration of the
Kentucky Derby with live music, horse racing, silent auction and croquet.
