Overview
The new Panama City – Bay County International Airport will be the first international commercial-service airport built in the United States since Denver International Airport in 1995. The new airport will replace the existing airport, which was built in 1948.

Panama City – Bay County Airport and Industrial District (Airport Authority) is an independent governmental authority governed by a five-member board.
Location
Northwest Bay County, Florida, north of County Highway 388 approximately five miles (eight kilometers) west of State Highway 77.
Airport Detailed Specific Area Plan
The 4,000-acre (1,620-hectare) Airport Detailed Specific Area Plan (DSAP) provides for a terminal, runways and ancillary facilities associated with an airport. The entire site is designated with an airport/industrial land use.
Airport Dimensions
The airport has been designed to grow with the region for the next fifty to one hundred years. Basic airport specifications for phase one of development include:
Primary Runway: 8,400 feet x 150 feet (2,560 meters x 46 meters)
Crosswind Runway: 5,000 feet x 100 feet (1,525 meters x 30 meters)
Terminal: 120,000 square feet (11,100 square meters)
Gates: Seven
Green Terminal
The Airport Authority has committed that the new airport terminal will be certified “green” under the Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) program of the U.S. Green Building Council. The LEED program is a voluntary certification program that defines high-performance buildings that are more environmentally responsible.
Project Schedule
The new airport is currently under construction. Based on the Airport Authority’s current schedule, the new airport is expected open in May 2010.
