$64,000 raised at Heart Healthy Extravaganza gala; over $4,000 raised at Thanksgiving Day 5K Run

WATERSOUND, FL - (December 19, 2008) - A combined $68,243 was raised for the Sacred Heart Foundation with a "Heart Healthy Extravaganza" evening gala and the "Move Your Feet to the Beat" Thanksgiving Day 5K run, held at the WaterSound Beach and WaterSound communities. The total number marks a step towards the Foundation's goal to raise $5 million for expanding heart and vascular services at Sacred Heart Hospital on the Emerald Coast.

The $64,000 raised at "A Heart Healthy Extravaganza" took place at the WaterSound Beach Club on November 22 and featured gourmet cuisine prepared by the area's top chefs, an art auction and an opportunity drawing. Prizes included stays at the area's top resorts, including WaterSound Beach and the WaterColor Inn and Resort, along with gift certificates to local businesses.

The $4,243 raised on Thanksgiving Day 2008 drew 240 runners, who began the 5K run at WaterSound's Village Commons, a gathering spot for residents. After the race, participants were invited to tour the community's model homes, which were open to the public for the day.

"We're thrilled to help the Sacred Heart Foundation achieve its goal of expanding heart and vascular care at the Emerald Coast Hospital," said Mary Rosenheim, Senior Vice President and General Manager of JOE's West Florida Region. "It was great to see the community rally in support of this important cause, which will benefit Northwest Florida residents and visitors."

"The goal of this campaign is to provide expanded access to life saving services, meeting a critical need in the community as heart disease remains the number one killer of Americans nationwide," said Joan Luchese, Race Director. "We're extremely grateful to The St. Joe Company and all the local artists, businesses and volunteers that helped to make these events a success."

About the Town of WaterSound: The Town of WaterSound is composed of three distinctive residential neighborhoods set along Scenic Highway 30A and Highway 98 on Northwest Florida's Gulf Coast with the world's most beautiful white sand beaches and crystal clear waters. Located in the heart of the Gulf Coast between Tallahassee and Pensacola, Florida, and accessible from Highway 98 in South Walton County, the three communities draw upon traditions of early 18th and 19th-century maritime architecture of Nantucket and Newport, with aspects of traditional American town planning: short walkable blocks, neighborhood common areas, scenic paths leading to community facilities, parks and open spaces - all with a style responding to the climate and to the sites' natural features. The Town of WaterSound's neighborhoods include WaterSound, WaterSound Beach and WaterSound West Beach.
