SummerCamp Beach is proud to continue its dedication and commitment in its land and environmental restoration program. Our environmental restoration program began with the community's inception in 2002 and continues today.

The restoration project includes:
  • Removal of old logging roads to restore the natural flow of the wetland systems and planting more than 2,000 trees
  • Harvesting pine trees to allow more sunlight to reach the forest floor, which allows lush vegitation that is beneficial for wildlife to grow
  • Removing invasive and exotic vegetation that negatively impacts wildlife
  • Conducting controlled burns to prevent wildfires and to create a more open landscape to benefit the ecosystem
  • Promoting SummerCamp Beach as a "Firewise Community," part of a national program to protect people, property and natural resources from risk of wildfires
  • Removing debris along the beach
  • Conducting wildlife surveys to identify the numerous species inhabiting the area and to make sure shorebirds are protected
  • Protecting sea turtles by placing subdued, "sea turtle" approved lighting fixtures throughout the SummerCamp Beach community
