Proceeds from 2008 IFA Redfish Tour Championship at RiverCamps to Benefit Audubon of Florida
Panama City Beach, Fla. (Oct. 2, 2008) – The Inshore Fishing Association (IFA) Redfish Tour returns to RiverCamps on Crooked Creek for its 2008 championship November 7–8. This year, a portion of the proceeds will benefit Audubon of Florida. The donated funds will help support the planned Audubon Center at West Bay.
The Redfish Tour has held its championships at RiverCamps for the past two years. The tournament challenges inshore anglers to display their talents on the Intracoastal Waterway. The tour also aims to raise awareness of the importance of maintaining our precious fishing resources. It was broadcast on Fox College Sports to a wide audience.
"Audubon of Florida is a worthy beneficiary of this year's Red Fish Tour Championship. The donation will help to ensure their stewardship of the environmental resources of the West Bay region, an area that JOE is committed to preserving," said Tom Dodson, vice president of sales, West Florida Region, for the St. Joe Company. "JOE is supporting the planned Audubon Center at West Bay, which will educate residents and visitors about the rich natural heritage of Northwest Florida."
"We are pleased that the IFA is coming back to West Bay and is supporting Audubon. The coastal habitat we seek to preserve helps redfish and other species thrive. Abundant fish and wildlife is a goal Audubon shares with the IFA. The Redfish Tour Championship will help us call attention to and protect this beautiful and abundant place," said Eric Draper, deputy director of Audubon of Florida.
Sponsors of the 2008 Redfish Tour include Ranger Boats, Yamaha Outboards, Cabela's, Minn Kota, Power Pole, JaxWraps, CW Crab, DriGrip Sunscreen, Charter Lakes, Sperry Top-Sider and others.
