Koehnemann Construction Unveils first 'Green Home' at RiverCamps
Spring 2008
Not quite a year ago, Rick Koehnemann of Koehnemann Construction embarked on a new journey at RiverCamps—a "green" journey that combined his signature quality craftsmanship and construction with energy-efficient practices approved by Energy Star and the Florida Green Building Coalition. "It just seemed like kind of a natural," said Koehnemann. "Of the things that are green, about one-third of them are things we'd normally do."
The home, located on Turkey Cove Lane, boasts environmentally friendly and energy-efficient appliances as well as customized indoor features; drought-tolerant landscaping; fibered cement in the siding, which features recycled concrete; and a wind-resistant roof made from recycled metal. It also features a certified Home Energy Rater System from Gulf Power, which involves a three-hour blower test to make sure the home is well-sealed.

170,000 acres into conservation forever. That's just a small part of the story, beyond
green.
