Celebration of the Red, White and Blue

July 4, 2008

SouthWood celebrated America’s birthday in grand fashion this past July 4 with an annual community event, the Celebration of the Red, White and Blue. Festivities kicked off at 9:30 a.m. with the Patriotic Parade down Baringer Hill. 

The sound of laughter rang through Central Park from kids, parents and onlookers who enjoyed summertime games. A highlight of the event was a special ceremony honoring combat war veterans who reside in SouthWood. In the evening, homeowners walked to Central Park armed with chairs and blankets to watch the extravagant fireworks display by Sky Candy. A rainbow of colors and sparkles of light filled the sky, bringing the day’s patriotic celebration to an exciting close.
