When John Parker, co-owner of Myddelton Parker Builders, received a late afternoon phone call from an unknown number in California a few months ago, he didn't think much of it. "Probably just a solicitor, or someone trying to sell me magazine subscriptions," he thought to himself. After answering the phone, he was stunned to learn that the person on the other end was Conrad Ricketts, co-executive producer of several "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" episodes. Ricketts explained to Parker that a Tallahassee family had been chosen by the "Extreme Makeover" team and Myddelton Parker Builders was at the top of the list of builders to oversee the entire construction process. Television Network ABC chose Myddelton Parker because of their reputation and that they are a local, family-owned business. Parker was ecstatic. He then told his brother-in-law and co-owner, Jake Myddelton, of this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity.

A week later, the "Extreme Makeover" crew boarded a plane for Tallahassee to lay the groundwork for what would become one of the most special custom-home builds ever in Tallahassee.

After Tallahassee's Kadzis Family had been selected, they completed an extensive questionaire answering questions regarding their ideal home. Myddelton and Parker knew who they needed to contact next to make the Kadzis Family dream home a reality. Enter master architect and 4M Design Group Founder, Mark Tarmey. Tarmey has a knack for designing homes with a coastal feel, and this is exactly what the Kadzis Family wanted. With Myddelton Parker Builders ready to build Tarmey's vision, the stage was set, now all that was needed were volunteers for this historic build.

And volunteers they got! Over 3,000 skilled and unskilled volunteers signed up to help and many more were turned away. With volunteers working together, a more than 3,000 square foot custom home, which would normally take six to eight months to complete, was finished in less than a week.

"We would have 200 people in the house at one time, but the amazing thing is everybody was hard at work," says Myddelton. "Everybody was doing something. It was amazing!" Inspectors would work 12-hour shifts to make sure the home met all specifications.

A large number of onlookers gathered to witness the Kadzis Family returning to their new home to hear Ty Pennington command the bus drive to "Move that Bus!"

It was a moment that Myddelton and Parker will never forget. "It was awesome," exclaims Parker!

Jake remembers Barbara Kadzis, still in disbelief over her newly built custom dream home saying, "This is the roof George always wanted," as their new residence was being revealed. Unfortunately, George Kadzis, Barbara's husband, passed away from brain cancer days after the home was completed. His memory will live on for the Kadzis Family in their new home.

Myddelton Parker Builders would like to thank the community for their help and support in making this all possible. To see this episode, be sure to watch ABC's "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition" Sunday night, April 12 at 8:00 p.m.
